ABOUT CHRIS MCGARRY

Chris McGarry is a proven entrepreneur and marketing executive with extensive experience defining and scaling technology-­driven business models. He started Modala Media in 2010 as a vehicle for supporting fellow musicians who were friends. Since then Modala has been the direct-to-consumer engine for more than 20 brands in music, film, fashion, publishing and technology.

Chris’ career in digital media dates to 1999 when he wrote the business plan for one of the first social networks, Kibu.com, while a graduate student at Stanford. Chris subsequently held positions at or consulted for Yahoo! Entertainment, Sony Digital Pictures, and Salesforce.com.

In 2008 Chris founded Omnetic, a cloud solutions company and charter member of Google’s Enterprise Partner Advisory Board. In 2011, Omnetic combined with Cloud Sherpas (now Accenture) to become the largest Google Enterprise Partner in the world.

Chris left Cloud Sherpas in 2012 to become VP Product Marketing at Thismoment, a leading digital experience platform for global brands including Coca-­Cola, Levi’s and Samsung.

Chris has a deep background in live entertainment. He has performed as a DJ and violinist with artists ranging from Prince to Sir Yehudi Menuhin. From 2001 to 2004 he co-produced the largest sound stage at Burning Man.

Chris earned an MBA from Stanford University and a BA with Honors in English & American Literature from Harvard University.
